seal_coating Sealcoating is one of the most important elements of a pavement management plan. A sealcoat consists of either coal tar pitch or asphalt cement mixed with inert fillers, water, emulsifying agents or additives. Applied in thin coats, pavement sealing is used to protect off-highway pavement surfaces against gasoline, oil, water and ultraviolet rays. Sealcoating saves thousands of dollars in potential asphalt replacement costs.
Crack Sealing and Joint Filling offers several important benefits the make it the first defense against pavement deterioration. Effective crack sealing keeps water from entering and weakening the base or sub-base. It also helps preserve the pavement adjacent to the cracks, prevents dirt and debris from making its way into open cracks causing compression stresses and extends pavement life by preventing crack expansion. Sockeye Asphalt Maintenance specializes in airport runway and taxiway crack sealing and joint filling as well as municipal and state roads. crack-filling
Routing and Concrete Cutting Services: Sockeye Asphalt Maintenance is one of the only contractors in the state that offers crack routing services. Routing a crack prior to sealing with hot rubber involves grinding the pavement in the immediate vicinity of the crack to clean the crack and improve adhesion of the filling material. When sealant is applied into a routed reservoir, adhesion is improved and the sealant is better equipped to accommodate crack movement due to weather and traffic. Crack routing also allows the sealant level to remain below the surface of the pavement which protects the sealant from traffic and snowplow contact. The void is then filled with hot rubber. This process significantly improves the longevity of the seal and extends the life of the pavement.
Asphalt replacement and removal is used to repair and patch problem areas in existing asphalt surfaces. Areas will be cut or milled and the existing deteriorated asphalt will be removed to the specified depth. Existing stone base will be compacted as needed and tack coat will be applied to the perimeter to guarantee proper bonding. Hot asphalt will be installed and compacted to match the existing surface. asphalt-repair
